HERNIA REPAIR (LAPAROSCOPIC/OPEN)

Hernia surgery (restoring a hole in the groin or abdominal wall) can be done via open or laparoscopic surgery. Open surgery is carried out via a skin incision over the hernia whilst laparoscopic (keyhole) hernia surgery is a minimally invasive approach which results in less pain after surgery. You can turn to Mr Ahmed for a laparoscopic or open hernia repair.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy (tube with a small video camera at the tip) is positioned within the large intestine via the rectum to detect any abnormalities of the lining of colon. It helps to examine the bowel for colonic cancers, polyps or inflammation. Colonoscopy is also, if possible, used as a tool to remove any polyps identified during the procedure. Mr Ahmed has full JAG Accreditation (Joint Advisory Group for GI Endoscopy) and has performed over 1000 such procedures.

HAEMORRHOIDECTOMY

Haemorrhoidectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove piles. This is done after putting a patient to sleep (under a general anaesthetic). Generally, this is a day case procedure where the patient can go home after the surgery on the same day.

There are also other ways to treat haemorrhoids, such as with laser, rubber band ligation, and injection.

Cholecystectomy

Cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gall bladder to treat gallstones and their potential complications. The procedure can be done via an open or laparoscopic (keyhole) approach. Open cholecystectomy requires a large incision, whilst laparoscopic cholecystectomy is done through a small (5mm and 10mm) incision.

Following laparoscopic cholecystectomy, you would be able to return to work more quickly compared to an open procedure. Mr Ahmed has an extensive experience of performing such procedures on a regular basis.

Diagnostic Laparoscopy

Diagnostic laparoscopy is undertaken using a small video camera inserted into the body after an incision to look inside the abdomen cavity. This type of laparoscopy helps to establish the diagnosis and is done as day case procedure, and the patient should be able to go home the same day.

APPENDICECTOMY

Appendicectomy is the treatment of appendicitis in which the appendix is surgically removed. This is the standard treatment for acute appendicitis, which Mr Ahmed performs on a regular basis.

Mr Ahmed performs a laparoscopy through a keyhole approach (laparoscopically). If you experience symptoms of accurate appendicitis, you should seek medical advice straight away. You can turn to Mr Ahmed at JA Surgeon for exemplary treatment.

Fistulectomy

When two organs or vessels get abnormally connected (a condition called a fistula), two surgical options are available: a fistulotomy or fistulectomy. Fistulotomy treats small to large fistulas, whilst fistulectomy completely removes the fistulous tract.

Fistulectomy is a delicate operation since completely removing the fistulous tract may severely damage the sphincters. But when such an operation is most needed, you can trust Mr Ahmed to do the job as he has performed various successful operations like this before.

Laparoscopic Colorectal Resection

Colectomy is surgical removal of the colon or a part of it. These procedures are mainly performed for inflammatory bowel diseases and for colorectal cancers. Mr Ahmed performs a colorectal procedure via either a laparoscopic or robotic approach.

There are various types of colorectal resections, such as right hemicolectomy, left hemicolectomy, sigmoid colectomy, low anterior resection (LAR), and abdomino-perineal resection (APR). Mr Ahmed performs these procedures on a regular basis and keeps records for every surgery confidential.
