Mr. Ahmed is a highly skilled Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with extensive expertise in minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. A pioneer in his field, he established and now leads the Robotic Colorectal Surgery Programme at Northampton General Hospital (2022), bringing cutting-edge precision to complex procedures.
He performs the full spectrum of colorectal surgeries—for both malignant and benign conditions—exclusively through minimally invasive approaches, optimizing patient outcomes with smaller incisions, faster recovery, and reduced postoperative complications. His leadership in robotic surgery underscores his commitment to innovation, elevating surgical standards and advancing patient care in colorectal oncology and functional disorders.

Leader in medical education
Mr. Ahmed is not only a well-established Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon but also a recognised leader in medical education. As Deputy Director for Medical Education at Northampton University Hospital, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of clinical training. His academic contributions extend to serving as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Leicester Medical College and as a Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, where he mentors the next generation of surgeons.
This dual commitment—to pioneering minimally invasive surgical techniques and advancing medical education—underscores his dedication to excellence in both patient care and professional development.

Laparoscopic Surgical Experience
Mr Ahmed has extensive laparoscopic surgical experience and recently initiated robotic colorectal surgery in the Colorectal Department at Northampton General Hospital. He performs all colorectal procedures via a minimally invasive approach for both malignant and benign conditions.

Surgical Tutor
Aside from being a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon, he is also a surgical tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is an Education Lead for the Surgical Department at Northampton General Hospital.

Faculty member
He is the faculty member for several surgical courses organised by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has conducted several international master classes on laparoscopic surgery. He is a Faculty and Lead of the Educational Committee for the Serbian National Training Programme for Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery.
